Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.

Remove external filter cartridge (6)

 Check sealing surface in filter head for faultless condition.

Moisten sealing ring of new external filter element (6) with transmission oil

Fill new external filter element (6) with oil and tighten



Start engine

Apply parking brake Allow engine to run for approx. 1 min at idle speed.

Shift through all selector lever positions

 Apply service brake. Remain with the selector lever in each position for approx. 20 s. Then shift the transmission back to position "N".

Check transmission oil level and correct if necessary

 Cold transmission (20 °C to 30 °C):
The automatic transmission fluid must be within the cold measuring range (B).

Transmission at operating temperature
(70 °C to 90 °C):
The automatic transmission fluid must be within the hot measuring range (A).

Determinate for the correct transmission oil level, which guarantees troublefree operation of the transmission, is the hot measuring range (A) on a transmission at operating temperature (70 °C to 90 °C).

It is essential to drain excess transmission oil or extract it using a handpump. When suctioning off attention should be paid to extreme cleanliness of the hose and pump, otherwise malfunctions may occur.


