Function
General
The all-wheel drive for automatic transmission consists essentially of the following component parts:
Transfer case with front axle transmission output
Front axle transmission
Rear axle gear
Function
The automatically controlled all-wheel drive is a permanent all-wheel drive with interaxle differential.
The transfer case is flange-mounted to the automatic transmission or integrated into the automatic transmission. The basic locking torque of 50 Nm serves to improve traction at low engine torque and reduce driveline vibration.
Depending on the transfer case, a distinction is made between a fixed and variable drive torque distribution.
The fixed drive torque distribution is 50 % at the front axle and 50 % at the rear axle. The drive torque is distributed via a single-speed transfer case without off-road ratio to the drive axles (drive train).
Variable transfer cases enable drive torque shifting of 0-100 % between the axles.
