Location
The transmission oil cooling coolant circulation pump is located in the area of the combustion engine.
Function
The transmission oil cooling coolant circulation pump ensures that a constant flow of coolant is delivered through the transmission oil heat exchanger or through the cooling duct in the dual-clutch transmission (vehicles with dual-clutch transmissions without transmission oil heat exchanger).
The heated transmission oil is fed via the feed line into the transmission oil heat exchanger or to the cooling duct in the dual-clutch transmission (vehicles with dual-clutch transmissions without transmission oil heat exchanger). The transmission oil is directed through ducts inside the transmission oil heat exchanger or the cooling duct in the dual-clutch transmission (vehicles with dual-clutch transmissions without transmission oil heat exchanger). A constant stream of coolant passes the ducts, which absorbs the waste heat and dissipates it into the coolant circuit. The coolant flow is regulated according to requirements via the transmission oil cooling coolant circulation pump by the powertrain control unit. The transmission oil is fed back to the dual-clutch transmission via the return line.
The transmission oil temperature is registered by the dual-clutch transmission oil temperature sensor of the dual-clutch transmission fully integrated transmission control electrohydraulic controller unit or by the dual-clutch transmission control unit.
