Warning | Risk of burn injuries and scalding when working on AdBlue(R) lines and the component parts attached to them. Risk of injury to skin and eyes when handling AdBlue(R). Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing AdBlue(R) | Pour AdBlue® only into suitable containers. Wait until the pressure is released before starting any work on the exhaust aftertreatment system.
Warning | Risk of burns and injury when working on the diesel particulate filter and health hazard from inhalation of soot particles | Wear protective gloves, safety glasses and respiratory protection.
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
Caution | Risk of injury caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts | Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Warning | Risk of injury. Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. | Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.
Topical note | Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts
| Remove | ||
1 | Loosen the hose clamps (7.1, 7.2) and remove the exhaust hose (7) from the exhaust gas treatment unit (1)
2 | Loosen the clamp (8.1), screw (8.2) and remove the final exhaust pipe (8)
3 | Release the electric plug connection fittings (arrows)
4 | Separate the electric line (6) from the exhaust gas pressure sensor after the DPF diesel particulate filter (17B12)
5 | Remove the screws (2.1) with the nuts (2.5) and washers (2.2 - 2.4) | In order to avoid deformation, the exhaust gas treatment unit (1) must only be disassembled and fitted with the fixed support structure (2).
6 | Lift the exhaust gas treatment unit (1) with an appropriate lift and the support structure (2), separating them from the vehicle.
Weight with support structure is approx. 85 kg.
7 | Disconnect all sensors connected to the exhaust gas treatment unit (1)
8 | Place the square wood under the marked area (a, b)
9 | Place the exhaust gas treatment unit (1) on the removed support structure (2)
| Install | ||
10 | Lift the exhaust gas treatment unit (1) with an appropriate lift, carefully insert it in the vehicle together with an assistant and align it approximately, but do fit it completely
Weight with support structure is approx. 85 kg.
When introducing the exhaust gas treatment unit (1),
| |||
make sure that no components are damaged.
11 | Fit the washers (2.3) and ensure that they are in the correct position | The concavity (arrow) of the washers (2.3) should face upwards.
12 | Fit the exhaust gas treatment unit (1), pre-assemble the screws (2.1) with the washers (2.2, 2.4) and the nuts (2.5), but do not tighten | To properly adjust the exhaust hose (7), the support structure (2) may also have to be moved.
13 | Fit the exhaust hose (7) with new clamps (7.1, 7.2)
14 | Tighten the exhaust hose clamps (7)
15 | Insert the screws without screwing them
Position all components without tightening them. Perform an assembly without tension.
16 | Mount the flexible tube
17 | Tighten the screws (2.1) of the support structure (2) to the structure | Exhaust gas aftertreatment unit support
18 | Fit the tailpipe (8), screw it first with the clamp (8.1) and tighten the screw (8.2) on the frame | Insert the screw (8.2) into the tailpipe (8) on the bracket at the bottom.
