Mount the adjusting device with its profile rail onto the center longitudinal member (14)



Slide the adjusting device as far as possible in the direction of travel (arrows), until the outer surfaces (B) on both sides contact the tie-rod intermediate levers (A)

 If necessary, change the position of the tie-rod intermediate levers (A) by steering the front wheels to the right or the left.



Detach universal joint (3) from primary shaft (6)

 Before removal mark the position of the universal joint (3) relative to the primary shaft (6) and then detach the universal joint (3) from the primary shaft (6).

Check the marking (C) on the steering gear (5) relative to the marking (D) on the primary shaft (6)

 Marking (C) and marking (D) must then line up.

Otherwise the center steering position on the steering gear (5) must be adjusted.

Mount universal joint (3) to primary shaft (6)

 Only perform if the center steering position on the steering gear (5) does not have to be adjusted.

Note marked position of universal joint (3) relative to primary shaft (6).



Remove adjusting device from longitudinal member (14)



Disconnect drag link (1) from steering gear pitman arm (2)

 Before completely removing the drag link (1) from the steering gear pitman arm (2) move the wheels to the straight-ahead position.

Adjust position of steering gear pitman arm (2) far enough until marking (C) and marking (D) line up

 For steering 766.376:
If the drag link (1) is not mounted the steering gear pitman arm (2) must never be moved from left stop to the right stop and vice versa as otherwise the pressure reduction valves in the steering gear (5) will be subject to excess pressure and have to be replaced as a consequence.
