Disassemble

1

Detach transmission from engine.

Disconnect electrical connectors at transmission control unit (TCM), transmission oil temperature sensor (8), main shaft rpm sensor and countershaft rpm sensor (9).

Detach compressed-air line and electrical wiring harness with brackets from transmission.

Remove drive shaft bearing cap.

Remove countershaft brake (VGW-B).

Remove shift piston of splitter box.

Attach clamping plate to main shaft (1) and screw in screws (2).

 Use screws (2) of drive shaft bearing cap.

Attach clamping plate to countershaft (3) and screw in screws (4).

 Use screws (4) M8x30 to attach clamping plate.

Attach oil pipe bracket (5) to transmission and tighten at threaded hole (6).



Holder for fixing oil pipe in place with removed countershaft brake

 The oil pipe bracket (5) prevents the oil pipe (7) from slipping out during follow-up operations.
Use suitable screw.

Remove oil pump.

Remove transmission oil temperature sensor (8) and countershaft rpm sensor (9).

Remove bearing pins (10).

Remove screws (11).

 Screws (11) have different lengths, note installation position.

Insert drift (13) through hole in transmission housing rear section (12).



Assembly aid for removal/installation of transmission housing rear section

 The drift (13) is used for counterholding/centering the oil pipe (7).

Carefully lift transmission housing rear section (12) little by little while counterholding oil pipe (7) at previously inserted drift (13).

 To make it easier to loosen the dowel pins (14), use a plastic mallet to gently tap the transmission housing rear section (12).
Make sure that the reverse idler gear (15) does not knock against the bearing of the countershaft.

Pull drift (13) out of hole in transmission housing rear section (12).

Remove reverse idler gear (15) from transmission housing rear section (12).

Pull out oil pipe (7).

 Note installation position of oil pipe (7).

Pull out retainer (16) of shift rail (22) (reverse gear).

Remove and clean reverse gear shift fork (17), 1st and 2nd gear shift fork (18), 3rd gear and 2nd constant speed gear shift fork (19), as well as splitter box transmission shift fork (20).

Pull sliding blocks (21) out of shift forks (17, 18, 19, 20) and clean.

Remove shift rails (22, 23, 24) from transmission housing.

 Note installation position of shift rails (22, 23, 24).

Lift main shaft (1) and countershaft (3) together with drive shaft out of transmission housing.

 Secure main shaft (1) and countershaft (3) to each other using a suitable tool.

Disassemble main shaft (1).
