4 | Press coolant pump bearing out of impeller (4) and coolant pump housing (5) (Fig. A) | Use a suitable thrust piece. | |
5 | Take anti-friction ring and angled seal out of the impeller | Only engine 402.970 | |
6 | Remove cassette-type seal (6) | ||

7 | Press coolant pump bearing into coolant pump housing (5) (Fig. B) | Use a suitable drift. Press in coolant pump bearing only by applying pressure to the bearing outer race (arrow). | |
8 | Install locking ring (2) | ||
9 | Press on flange (1) for belt pulley flush onto coolant pump bearing (3) | Heat flange beforehand. | |
10 | Install cassette-type seal (6) | ||

11 | Insert anti-friction ring and angled seal into the impeller | Only engine 402.970 Replace anti-friction ring and angled seal. Apply a thin film of grease to anti-friction ring. | |
12 | Press impeller (4) onto coolant pump bearing (Fig. C) | When pressing on - pay attention to specified size of gap, - support at the coolant pump bearing (3), not at the flange (1) or at the coolant pump housing. | |
