1	Remove cylinder head covers		AR01.20-P-5014L
2	Remove front cover on right		AR01.30-P-5700L
3	Remove CSO oil pump		AR01.30-P-5704L
4	Check engine valve timing		AR05.10-P-6858L
5	Loosen camshaft adjuster (4) bolt (8) on the left	 To loosen bolt (8) turn the left camshaft in such a way that the holding device (5) can be fitted without tension to the left cylinder head. Before loosening the bolt (8) attach retaining clamp (7) on the camshaft adjuster (4) on the left.

6	Remove holding device (5) on the left cylinder head
7	Loosen camshaft adjuster (6) bolt (8) on the right	 To loosen bolt (8) turn the right camshaft in such a way that the holding device (5) can be fitted without tension to the right cylinder head. Before loosening the bolt (8) attach retaining clamp (7) on the camshaft adjuster (6) on the right.

8	Remove holding device (5) on the right cylinder head
9	Turn engine to 30° after ignition TDC at cylinder 1.	Crank engine at crankshaft in direction of rotation of engine until 30° marking on belt pulley/vibration damper is aligned with marking on timing case cover.
		 Engine must not be cranked back.
10	Remove chain tensioner		AR05.10-P-7800L
11	Remove pin for the slide rail on the RH and LH cylinder head	 Removal: Only remove the pin at inlet side.
		 Installation: For simpler laying on of the timing chain. Do not mix up pins.

13	Remove camshaft adjuster (4) at the left	Lift timing chain from the camshaft adjuster.	AR05.20-P-7201L

	Install
14	Rotate camshaft on the left in the basic position	 The basic position of the camshaft is thus only correct when the retainer (5) can be fitted without tension to the left cylinder head. Marking (A) of camshaft bearing cap (2) must be aligned with marking (B) on camshaft (3).
		 At a 30° crank angle after ignition TDC of cylinder 1, it is possible to rotate the camshaft without the valves coming into contact with the pistons.

15	Rotate camshaft on the right in the basic position	 The basic position of the camshaft is thus only correct when the retainer (5) can be fitted without tension to the right cylinder head. Marking (A) of camshaft bearing cap (2) must be aligned with marking (B) on camshaft (3).
		 At a 30° crank angle after ignition TDC of cylinder 1, it is possible to rotate the camshaft without the valves coming into contact with the pistons.

16	Install camshaft adjuster (6) on the right	Fit timing chain onto camshaft adjuster. Take off retaining clamp.	AR05.20-P-7201L

19	Install pins for guide rails	 Do not mix up pins.
