1

Identify the fluid level in the expansion reservoir (1,1a,1b) with an adhesive strip (e.g. insulation tape)

If after replacing the brake fluid the expansion reservoir (1,1a,1b) is filled beyond the current level, there is the danger that it is overfilled or overflows when replacing the brake pads, for example.

2

Extract brake fluid in the expansion reservoir (1,1a,1b)

Extract brake fluid in the expansion reservoir (1) until there is a residual amount of approx. 10 mm.

Both expansion reservoirs (1a, 1b) should be emptied on the air-operated brake system.

3

Connect bleeder unit to expansion reservoir (1)

With vacuum-assisted brake system

Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions.

4

Move the automatic brake force regulator into the full-load position

With vacuum-assisted brake system

5

Connect drain hose to the bleed screw (2)

With vacuum-assisted brake system

Connect drain hose of the brake fluid receptacle to the bleed screw (2) on the brake caliper.

Start the replacement of the brake fluid at the brake caliper with the longest line.

6

Open, close bleed screw (2)

With vacuum-assisted brake system

Keep the bleed screw (2) at each brake caliper open until new brake fluid flows out free of bubbles, then close the bleed screw (2).

7

Connect drain hose to the bleed screw (3)

Connect the drain hose of the brake fluid receptacle to the bleed screw (3) on the clutch slave cylinder.

8

Open, close bleed screw (3)

Keep the bleed screw (3) on the clutch slave cylinder open until new brake fluid flows out free of bubbles, then close the bleed screw (3).

9

Return automatic brake power regulator to original position

With vacuum-assisted brake system

10

Disconnect bleeder unit

With vacuum-assisted brake system

Observe manufacturer's operating instructions.

11

Correct fluid level in expansion reservoir (1)

With vacuum-assisted brake system

Bring the fluid level to the marked level before replacing the brake fluid.

12

Connect the bleeder unit to the expansion reservoir (1a) of the rear axle brake circuit first, then connect to the expansion reservoir (1b)

With air-operated brake system

Replace the brake fluid in the rear axle brake circuit first, then in the front-axle brake circuit.

Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions.

13

Connect drain hose to the bleed screw (2)

With air-operated brake system

Connect drain hose of the brake fluid receptacle to the bleed screw (2) on the brake caliper.

Start the replacement of the brake fluid at the brake caliper with the longest line.

14

Open, close bleed screw (2)

With air-operated brake system

Keep the bleed screw (2) at each brake caliper open until new brake fluid flows out free of bubbles, then close the bleed screw (2).

15

Disconnect bleeder unit from expansion reservoir (1b) of front-axle brake circuit

With air-operated brake system

Observe manufacturer's operating instructions.

16

Correct the fluid level in the expansion reservoirs (1a,1b)

With air-operated brake system

Bring fluid level to the marked level before replacing the brake fluid in both expansion reservoirs (1a,1b).

17

Attach sticker in engine compartment

Attach sticker for service deadline reminder for the next brake fluid change at a clearly visible point in the engine compartment.
