Remove rear wheel

 Wheel bolt for steel rim

Pull left rear axle rpm sensor (L6/3) or right rear axle rpm sensor (L6/4) carefully out of bush in brake carrier (1)

 Installation:
Measure distance between measuring ring and left rear axle rpm sensor (L6/3) or right rear axle rpm sensor (L6/4) and adjust by moving it.
Otherwise it may result in malfunctions or total failure in or to the antilock brake system (ABS) or the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®).

 Installation: Clean bush in brake carrier (1). Measure distance between measuring ring and left rear axle rpm sensor (L6/3) or right rear axle rpm sensor (L6/4) and adjust it.

Check measuring ring of wheel hub for signs of damage

If measuring ring is damaged



Replace measuring ring.

Remove bronze sleeve (2).

 Installation: Compress brass sleeve (2) slightly.

Remove load compartment fuse and relay module

Disconnect frame electrical connector, 22-pin (X92/3)

 The frame electrical connector, 22-pin (X92/3) is located in the load compartment toolbox.

Disconnect electrical connectors in load compartment toolbox

Perform wiring harness (4) through floor opening (5)

Detach wiring harness attachments underneath the vehicle

Remove bracket of electrical lines of left rear axle rpm sensor (L6/3) or right rear axle rpm sensor (L6/4)

Detach electrical lines of left rear axle rpm sensor (L6/3) or right rear axle rpm sensor (L6/4) from wiring harness

 Installation: use new friction tape.

Remove electrical lines of left rear axle rpm sensor (L6/3) or right rear axle rpm sensor (L6/4) from frame electrical connector, 22-pin (X92/3)

 Remove pins 19, 20, 21 and 22.

Remove left rear axle rpm sensor (L6/3) or right rear axle rpm sensor (L6/4) with electrical lines

 Installation: Ensure that routing of lines is correct.

Install in the reverse order
