Release the residual pressure by undoing the respective compressed air line union nut. Unhook the spring bellows only downward out of the semi-trailing arm. | |||
2 | Detach propeller shaft (1) from rear axle differential (2) and tie to undercarriage | ||
3 | Support and secure rear axle differential (2) | ||

4 | Pull vent hose (3) out of underbody | ||
5 | Remove bolts (4) | The screws/bolts (4) must not be removed; mark the installation position of the rear axle differential (2). | |

Mark installation position of front hanger (5). When replacing the rear axle differential (2), completely remove the front suspension (5). | |||
7 | Lower rear axle differential (2) and push back slightly | | |
8 | Press rear axle shafts (6) out of rear axle differential (2) | ||
Prevent rear axle oil from escaping; if necessary, insert a suitable stop plug into the opening of the rear axle differential (2). | |||

10 | Position rear axle differential (2) so that drive flange is pointing downward | ||
11 | Unscrew drain screw | ||
12 | Fill rear axle differential (2) with oil | ||

| Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7) | ||
Initial filling of rear axle differential (2) with at least 0.2 l of oil. | |||
13 | Screw in drain screw | ||
| Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7) | ||
Moisten the thread of the drain screw with oil. | |||
14 | Turn rear axle differential (2) at drive flange several times | Turn the drive flange at least ten times to ensure complete oil wetting. | |
15 | Support and secure rear axle differential (2) | ||
