Disassemble

1

Remove shift mechanism

Transmission model 715.500/507/510/513/517/520/527/540

Remove solenoid valve (1)

 Only on transmission model 715.500/507/510/513/517/520/527/540.

Pull shift hub (15) with notch lever (6) and index bolt (10) out of shift housing (2) and remove springs (8, 9)

 The index bolt (10) is spring-loaded.

Remove washer (17) and remove circlip (16) from the gearshift hub (15)

Unscrew grub screws (7) remove notch lever (6) from the gearshift hub (15)

 Heat grub screws (7). The grub screws (7) are secured with locking agent.

Remove locking ring (11) from shift hub (15) and take out bush (12), spring (13) and washer (14)

 The circlip (11) is spring-loaded.

Remove needle bearing (5)

 Puller

Detach detent segment (3)

 Lever out detent segment (3) carefully.

Drive roll pin (19) out of the shift shaft (29) and shift finger (18)

 Use a suitable drift.

Remove shift finger (18) and locking bar (20) from shift shaft (29)

 Identify installation position of locking bar (20).

Pull shift shaft (29) out of lock bearing cover (24) and remove gate detent bush (23)

 Collect balls (30) with a cloth. Make sure than none of the 6 balls (30) is lost.

Remove cap (35)

Remove locking ring (34), bushes (31), springs (32) and thrust pieces (33) from shift shaft (29)

Take off bearing cover (26) and remove sealing ring (25)

15

Remove radial shaft sealing ring (28) from bearing cover (26)

 Use a suitable drift.

Remove needle bearing (27)

 Puller

Drive out roll pin (21) and remove locking pin (22) from lock bearing cover (24)

 Use a suitable drift.



Assemble

Install locking pin (22) in lock bearing cover (24) and drive in roll pin (21)

 Use a suitable drift.
The recess in the locking pin (22) must point towards the output end.

Install needle bearing (27) into bearing cover (26)

 Use a suitable drift. Grease needle roller bearing in (27) with long-life grease.

Install radial shaft sealing ring (28) into bearing cover (26)

 Use a suitable drift.
Coat sealing lip of radial shaft seal (28) with long-life grease.

Insert bushes (31), springs (32) and thrust pieces (33) into shift shaft (29) and install locking ring (34)

 Install circlip (34) using a suitable tube.

Install new cap (35)

 Insert end cover with locking agent.

Install sealing ring (25) and fit bearing cover (26) on shift shaft (29)

 Replace compression ring (25).

Install gate detent bush (23) in lock bearing cover (24) and push in shift shaft (29)

 The small diameter of the bush for the gate detent (23) must point towards the locking finger (22) (arrow).

Insert balls (30) into shift shaft (29) and insert shift shaft (29) into gate detent bush (23)

Insert shift finger (18) into locking bar (20) and push onto shift shaft (29) together

 Observe installation position of locking bar (20).

Drive roll pin (19) into shift shaft (29)

 Use a suitable drift.

Install detent segment (3)

 The cutout (arrow) on the detent segment (3) must point towards the drive shaft.

Install bolt (4) with locking agent.

Install needle bearing (5) into shift housing (2)

 Use a suitable drift.
Grease needle roller bearing (5) with long-life grease.

Install washer (14), spring (13), bush (12) and locking ring (11) in shift hub (15)

 Coat bush (12) with long-life grease and insert.

Push notch lever (6) onto the gearshift hub (15) and place new grub screws (7) in position

 The grub screws (7) are not to be tightened until the shift finger (18) is adjusted.

Install shift hub (15) with notch lever (6), springs (8, 9) and index bolt (10) in shift housing (2)

 Coat the index bolt (10) with long-life grease.

Install retaining ring (16) and washer (17)

Adjust shift finger (18)

Install shift linkage.
