Disassemble

Disassemble transmission

Remove synchronizer ring (7), synchronizer cone (6), and annular spring (5).

Remove sliding sleeve (4)

Remove circlip (3) and oil pipe (2).

 Only when installing new drive shaft (1) or if transmission oil contains shavings.

Turn drive shaft (1) around.

Remove circlip (14)

Pull off tapered roller bearing (13).

Remove constant mesh gear 1 (11) and needle roller bearing (12).

Remove synchronizer ring (10), synchronizer cone (9), and annular spring (8).



Assemble

Check service limit between synchronizer cones (6, 9) and sliding sleeve (4).

Push annular spring (8), synchronizer cone (9), and synchronizer ring (10) into constant mesh gear 1 (11).

 Check annular spring (8) for wear and replace if necessary. Oil annular spring (8) and cones of synchronizer cone (9) and sliding sleeve (4).

Push needle roller bearing (12) and constant mesh gear 1 (11) onto drive shaft (1).

 Lubricate needle roller bearing (12).

Heat tapered roller bearing (13) to approx. 80 °C and install

 Adjust tapered roller bearing (13) so it is free of play.

Install circlip (14) with zero play

 If necessary install circlip (14) of a different thickness .

Turn drive shaft (1) around.

Insert oil pipe (2) into drive shaft (1) and install circlip (3).

 Only when installing new drive shaft (1) or if transmission oil contains shavings.

Mount sliding sleeve (4) on drive shaft (1).

 Long chamfer of sliding sleeve (4) must point towards output.

Mount annular spring (5), synchronizer cone (6), and synchronizer ring (7) on drive shaft (1).

 Check annular spring (5) for wear and replace if necessary. Oil annular spring (5) and cones of synchronizer cone (6) and sliding sleeve (4).
