Remove treadboard/cover above the transmission

Unpressurized circuit 4 of compressed-air system

 Loosen union nut (22) on clutch booster (13) approx. two revolutions, counterholding the banjo bolt (21) in the process.

Disconnect connectors for electrical center (1) on transmission

Remove crossmember below transmission



Disconnect adapter or connections on PTO

 With power take-off (C-version) drain and collect gear oil.

Detach propeller shaft (7) at transmission and place to the side.



Remove retarder

Remove coolant lines from retarder complete

 Only vehicles with code (BA9) Voith secondary retarder R 115 or with code (BA1) Performance-optimized Voith retarder.

Detach wiring harness of battery (9) from the brackets (10) on the transmission and place to one side

Detach compressed air line (17) at clutch booster (13) and at pipe clamp (19) and place to the side



Detach connector (18) for compressed air line on the clutch booster (13)

 Installation: Replace sealing rings.



Detach electrical connector (11) of clutch travel sensor (B2) and place to the side

Detach clutch booster (13) and place to one side

 Do not loosen hydraulic line (20).



Disconnect oil cooler lines (5) at connection to transmission and plug using suitable plugs

 Catch escaping oil.

Detach oil lines (5) from brackets and tie to frame side member

Detach compressor line (15) at brackets at transmission

Disconnect speed sensor electrical connector (8)

Release clamp (16) and slide downwards

Unscrew bolts (6) from left and right carrying arm



Raise transmission approx. 20 mm and support engine from underneath at timing case

Unscrew bolts around circumference of transmission and lift out transmission

 Installation: When installing the transmission the rollers on the release lever (14) must engage in the guide groove of the clutch operator (23) past the rear flange of the clutch operator (23) to ensure proper function of the release mechanism.

 Installation: Rotate the clutch operator (23) until the roll pin (24) is in a horizontal position.


