1 | Removing and installing torque converter clutch | ||
2 | Detach compressed-air line (7) from cover (1) | ||
3 | Detach pressure oil line (6) | Collect escaping oil. | |
Installation: Replace sealing rings on banjo bolts. | |||
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by pinching or crushing when working on springs or spring bodies that are under load | Use only approved tensioning devices; shield off hazard area if necessary. | |
4 | Remove cover (1) at retarder housing and take out seal (2) | The cover (1) is spring-loaded, unscrew bolts carefully. | |
Installation: Replace seal (2), press the piston (3), slide (4) and push spring (5) through the hole in the cover (1) using a bolt against the spring force in the retarder housing and screw on the cover (1). | |||
If the push spring (5) is replaced, install push spring of the same length. | |||

5 | Take the piston (3) with both grooved rings (3.1), slide (4) and push spring (5) out of the retarder housing | Installation: Remove and replace grooved rings (3.1) on piston (3). Observe installation position of piston (3) and slide (4). | |

6 | Install in the reverse order | ||
7 | Check retarder control valve for leaks | Visual inspection. |
