Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. 	Drain off
1	Open engine hood and raise to vertical position		AR88.40-W-1000R
2	Unscrew cap on coolant expansion reservoir
3	Set temperature control for heater to the maximum heat output and switch on the ignition
4	Place drain hose on the drain fitting (3)
5	Unfasten drain screw (2) and drain off coolant at cooler	 Collect coolant in clean vessel.
6	Remove drain screw (4) on engine and drain coolant at crankcase	 Collect coolant in clean vessel.
7	Remove drain screw (6) on heat exchanger (7) and drain coolant	Only with vehicles with code BA1 (Performance-optimized Voith retarder).
		 Collect coolant in clean vessel.
8	Switch off ignition
	Pour in
9	Tighten drain screw (6) on heat exchanger (7)	Only with vehicles with code BA1 (Performance-optimized Voith retarder).
		 Installation: Replace sealing ring and grease slightly.

10	Tighten drain screw (4) on crankcase	 Replace sealing ring.
		 Coolant drain screw to crankcase	*BA01.40-N-1005-01U
11	Tighten drain screw (2) on cooler and remove drain hose	 Coolant drain plug to radiator	*BA20.20-N-1003-01E
12	Check coolant for soiling	If severely fouled.
		
		Replace coolant.

13	Check coolant with antifreeze tester	When antifreeze protection is too low
		
		Correct concentration of antifreeze or replace the coolant.

15	Start engine and bleed cooling and heating system
16	Turn off engine
17	Tight down cap on coolant expansion reservoir
18	Check engine cooling system for leaktightness	 Visual inspection.
