Modification notes
20.10.11 | Value changed: screw/bolt, cylinder head cover to valve intermediate plate
8.11.11 | Cylinder head for single-cylinder compressor altered, added. | Operation step 16 |
| Removing | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
| Notes on coolant | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted | Ensure that no one is within tilting range of cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt cab all the way to end position and secure with safety strut.
1 | Tilt cab | ||
| Notes on tilting the cab | ||
2 | Remove soundproofing
3 | Partially drain coolant at radiator
4 | Detach coolant lines (4, 7) at compressor (1) | Collect coolant that flows out
5 | Remove compressed air line (5) on compressor (1) | Counterhold fitting (3).
6 | Check compressed-air line (5) for carbonization | In the event of carbonization, also check compressed air lines between compressor (1), compressed air drier and the four-circuit protection valve, if necessary replace the carbonized parts.
7 | Remove air intake duct (6) on compressor (1)
8 | Pull camshaft position sensor (B16) out of crankcase | Do not disconnect electrical connector (8).
9 | Remove cylinder head (2) at compressor (1)
10 | Remove seal/intake valve disk (9)
| Checking | ||
11 | Check piston and cylinder barrel on the compressor (1) for damage and wear | If wear or damage present:
Replace compressor (1).
12 | Check removed cylinder head (2) for leaks | If leaks can be recognized on the cylinder head (2):
Disassemble cylinder head (2), insert new seals and assemble
| |||
| Install | ||
13 | Lay on new seal/intake valve disk (9) | Clean sealing surface.
14 | Attach cylinder head (2) on compressor (1) and tight screw/bolts (10) crosswise | Replace screw/bolts (10).
| |||
15 | Tighten screw/bolt (11) | Note: If the cylinder head (2) has been replaced the screw/bolt (11) must be loosened before tightening since this has not been tightened according to specification in the delivery condition and leaks can occur.
| |||
| Cylinder head on single-cylinder compressor altered | ||
16 | Push in camshaft position sensor (B16) all the way into the cylinder crankcase. | Replace O-ring. Check bushing for camshaft position sensor (B16); replace if necessary.
17 | Attach air intake duct (6) on compressor (1)
18 | Attach compressed-air line (5) at compressor (1) | Counterhold fitting (3).
| |||
19 | Attach coolant lines (4, 7) to compressor (1)
20 | Pour in coolant | ||
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
21 | Start engine and check the connecting points and line interfaces on the compressor (1) for leaktightness for a running engine | Visual inspection.
22 | Turn off engine | ||
23 | Install noise encapsulation on left
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted | Ensure that no one is within tilting range of cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt cab all the way to end position and secure with safety strut.
