Remove/install cylinder head cover

Remove/install

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Only pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Remove injectors

 Close openings in cylinder head with clean dry cloth.

Detach ventilation hose (2) on cylinder head cover (1)

Remove coolant hose (6) from engine wiring harness cable duct (7)

Detach engine wiring harness cable duct (7) from cylinder head (1) and push to side

 Remove the cable tie for the rear bracket on cylinder head if necessary.

Remove banjo bolt (4) and move fuel line (5) to one side

 Close off connection on rail (3) using suitable  stop plugs

 Installation: Install new sealing rings.



Remove bolts on cylinder head cover (1)

 The cylinder head cover (1) is fastened using 18 bolts.

Bolts remain in cylinder head cover (1).



Remove cylinder head cover (1)

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces and install new gasket.

Remove camshaft sensor (B6/23)

When replacing the cylinder head cover (1).

 Installation: Replace sealing ring.



Install in the reverse order

 Danger!

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Conduct engine test run and check engine for leaks in the area of the cylinder head cover (1)
