Function requirements, general
"Circuit 15C OFF"
Pre-entry climate control preset via menu in radio (Audio/COMAND)
The radio (Audio/COMAND) sends the "Operation" signal via user interface CAN, gateway for user interface CAN, chassis CAN, electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit and interior CAN to the automatic air conditioning (AAC [KLA]) control unit.
Pre-entry climate control in general
The pre-entry climate control is intended to temporarily heat up the area of the driver seat when getting in or ventilate it and to pre-cool the air from the air vents. Which of the two functions is initiated depends on the interior temperature and the specified temperature preset on the FRONT heater/air conditioning operating unit switch. If the interior temperature is at least 6 °C above the set specified temperature, the "pre-cool" function is active; if the interior temperature is at least 10 °C below the set specified temperature, the "pre-heat" function is active.
The interior air temperature sensor sends the signal "Interior temperature" to the blower with interior air temperature sensor. It sends the signal directly to the automatic air conditioning (AAC [KLA]) control unit.
Pre-entry climate control is initiated by unlocking the central locking (CL [ZV]) via radio frequency. The electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit sends the status of the central locking via interior CAN to the automatic air conditioning (AAC [KLA]) control unit. If the pre-entry climate control function is active, the automatic air conditioning (AAC [KLA]) control unit then initiates the pre-entry climate control. The "pre-entry climate control" function enables cooling for a maximum of 60 s or heating for 120 s and it is ended once this period has expired or when the engine is started. If the charge level for the starter battery is sufficient, the pre-entry climate control can be activated up to 2 times without having to restart the engine.
The pre-entry climate control function encompasses the following subfunctions:
Function sequence for pre-cooling
Function sequence for pre-warming
Function sequence for pre-cooling
Pre-cooling includes the following measures:
Pre-venting of air conditioner housing and air ducts (blower active)
The automatic air conditioning (AAC [KLA]) control unit sends a request over the climate control LIN 1 to the blower regulator, which then actuates the blower motor.
Driver seat ventilation (with CODE SE0 (Seat climate control for driver))
The automatic air conditioning (AAC [KLA]) control unit sends the seat ventilation request via interior CAN to the driver seat adjustment control unit with memory, which actuates the driver seat cushion seat ventilation motors and driver seat backrest seat ventilation motors directly.
Detailed information on the individual measures is available in the following function descriptions:
Climate control function
Electric seat ventilation, function
Function sequence for pre-warming
Pre-heating includes the following measures:
Driver seat heater (with CODE H16 (Seat heater for driver) and without CODE SE0 (Seat climate control for driver))
The automatic air conditioning (AAC [KLA]) control unit sends the seat heater request via interior CAN to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit, which forwards the seat heater request via heater LIN to the driver seat heater/ventilation control unit. It actuates the driver seat cushion heater pad and the driver seat backrest heater pad directly.
Driver seat heater (with CODE SE0 (Seat climate control for driver))
The automatic air conditioning (AAC [KLA]) control unit sends the seat heater request via interior CAN to the driver seat adjustment control unit with memory, which actuates the driver seat cushion heater pad and driver seat backrest heater pad directly.
