Danger! | Danger of severe burns to skin and eyes from hot coolant spewing out. Coolant is toxic when swallowed | Open cooling system only when coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cover slowly and reduce pressure. Do not fill beverage containers with coolant. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and protective goggles. | |
1 | Eliminate pressure from coolant circuit | ||
2 | Bleed coolant | ||
3 | Remove instrument panel | ||
4.1 | Remove instrument panel support member | Only in models with passenger airbag unit (Code SA6) | |
5 | Unscrew screws (1) | ||
6 | Remove fastening plate (3) | ||
7 | Unscrew screws (5) for coolant lines (4) on heater housing (6) | ||
8 | Place coolant lines (4) to side | Ensure that coolant lines (4) are not damaged | |
9 | Remove coolant lines (4) from heat exchanger | Ensure that coolant lines (4) are not damaged | |
10 | Disconnect connector (B29.1) | ||
11 | Remove heat exchanger (2) from heater unit | Clean any coolant that spills with a cloth or something similar | |
12 | Reinstall in opposite order | If plastic retainers on heater housing (6) are broken off secure heat exchanger (2) with screws. |
