Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

 Warning

Remove/install

Remove upper engine cover.

 Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Remove soundproofing upstream of poly-V-belt.

Remove crash plate and differential pressure sensor from heat shield and place to one side.

Remove heat shield of the differential pressure sensor.

Remove AdBlue® metering valve (Y129) on catalytic converter (1) and place to one side with lines connected.

Release and disconnect electrical connector from NOx sensor control unit upstream of the diesel oxidation catalytic converter (N37/12) and unclip electric line from catalytic converter (1).

Remove NOx sensor control unit upstream of the diesel oxidation catalytic converter  (N37/12) from catalytic converter (1).

Release and disconnect electrical connector (3) and unclip from bracket (5).

Release and disconnect electrical connector (4) and unclip from bracket (5) and catalytic converter (1).

Open clamps (9, 10).

 Installation: Install new clamps (9, 10).

 Installation: Replace seals.

Remove screws (7).

 Clamp/screw, catalytic converter to

Unscrew the screws  (8).

 Clamp/screw, diesel particulate filter to

*BA49.10-P-1003-02T

Remove catalytic converter (1).



Clean

Clean sealing surface on exhaust gas turbocharger.

Clean sealing surface on diesel particulate filter (6).

Clean sealing surfaces on catalytic converter (1).

When reusing the catalytic converter (1).

Remove temperature sensor from catalytic converter (1).

When replacing catalytic converter (1).

Remove NOx sensor with NOx sensor control unit upstream of the diesel oxidation catalytic converter  (N37/12) from catalytic converter (1).

When replacing catalytic converter (1).

Install in the reverse order.

Read out and delete fault memory.


