Ignition off

Remove air filter housing

 With engine 111.950 (MR7) and 111.980 (MR8), remove air filter housing with the hot film MAF sensor installed.

Remove poly-V belt



Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove coolant thermostat housing

 Replace sealing ring.

Detach coolant hoses (11, 12 and 13) at the coolant pump (10)

 Inspect condition of coolant hoses and hose clamps, replace if necessary.

7 mm socket hexagon on flexible shaft for hose clamps with worm drive

Unscrew bolts at belt pulley (15) and remove belt pulley (15)

Unscrew bolts (8) at bracket (5) and loosen bolt (6)



Remove coolant pump (10)

 Pay attention to the bolt assignment. The bolts (2, 9) can only be removed with the coolant pump (10).

 Installation: Clean the sealing surfaces. Coat the gasket (14) with sealant if necessary. Tighten bolts equally.



Install in the reverse order



Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
