 Warning

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Drain off

Remove oil cooler of automatic transmission with lines of fan unit connected.

Remove cap from expansion reservoir.

Remove engine compartment lining from center and front.

Remove nuts (2).

Remove screws (1) and remove strut (3) with brackets (6).

Slide drain hose onto drain fitting (4) at cooler.

Open drain screw (5), drain coolant, and catch it in a suitable container.


Unscrew drain screw (5) only until the coolant drains off.
Permanent damage to the drain screw (5) will occur otherwise.

 Observe regulations for disposal of coolant.

Pour in

Tighten drain screw (5) and remove drain hose.

Position strut (3) with brackets (6), screw in screws (1) and tighten.

Tighten nuts (2).

Pour in coolant and bleed engine cooling system.

Attach oil cooler of automatic transmission to fan unit.

 Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Check engine cooling system for leak tightness.

Perform engine test run; in this connection, check engine cooling system for proper operation and leak tightness.

Install center and front lower engine compartment lining.
