Modification notes
Draining | |||
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
| Notes on coolant | ||
1 | Open engine hood | See Operator's Manual
2 | Unscrew the cap (1) on the expansion reservoir (2) | Rotate one revolution counterclockwise, drain overpressure, then unscrew cap of cooling system (1).
3 | Remove lower engine compartment paneling
4 | Unscrew drain plug (5) at radiator (6) and drain coolant | Collect coolant
Filling | |||
5 | Screw tight drain plug (5) at radiator (6)
6 | Install lower engine compartment paneling.
7 | Connect filling device (3) with adapter (4) to expansion reservoir (2), evacuate cooling system and then fill | Observe instruction manual from filling device (3) manufacturer.
| |||
| |||
| |||
8 | Screw cap (1) onto expansion reservoir (2)
| Checking | ||
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
9 | Carry out engine test run | Until the cooling fan is switched on.
10 | Check coolant level, adjust to correct level if necessary.
| Engine cooling system - inspect fluid level, adjust to correct level. Inspect anticorrosion/ antifreeze protection, adjust to correct concentration |
