Remove/install

Perform commissioning of axle drive module (1) with vehicle diagnosis system.

When replacing axle drive module (1).



Drain coolant for electric motor cooling.

Perform power disconnect of high-voltage on-board electrical system.

Remove refrigerant compressor with connected refrigerant lines from axle drive module (1) and secure on tubular frame.

 Do not fully remove refrigerant compressor.

Release and disconnect electrical connector (2) at park pawl emergency actuator.

Release and disconnect electrical connectors (3).

Move catch spring at coupling of coolant pipe (4) to opening position.

Remove left front axle shaft.

Remove right front axle shaft.

Remove engine stabilizer mount (5).

Remove electrical vacuum pump.

Secure vehicle on vehicle lift.

Remove connection fitting of electric motor coolant circuit from axle drive module (1).

Remove screw (6) and disconnect equipotential bonding line (7).

Check ground lines for high-voltage on-board electrical system potential equalization

 Installation: Check equipotential bonding line (7) for electric motor.

Disconnect coolant hose at coupling (8) from coolant pipe (10) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.

Remove screw (9).

Pull coolant pipe (10) out of coolant pipe (4) and remove.

If catch spring at coupling of coolant pipe (4) is located on side



Replace coolant pipes (4, 10).

Check O-ring in coupling of coolant pipe (4) for damage.

If catch spring at coupling of coolant pipe (4) is oriented upwards.

If damage is detected,



Replace coolant pipes (4, 10).

Seal opening at coolant pipe (4) with suitable stop plug.

Release and disconnect electrical connector (11).



Unclip electrical wiring harness (12) at line bracket (arrow A).

Unclip high-voltage wiring harnesses (13) at line brackets (arrows B).

 High-voltage wiring harnesses (13) are clipped in at 8 positions.

Release high-voltage plug (14) and disconnect from high-voltage power distributor at underbody.

Support axle drive module (1) and secure on mounting plate.



 When securing axle drive module (1), ensure that retaining belt is routed above axle drive module (1) and below the power electronics (1.1).

Remove screw/bolts (15).

Lower axle drive module (1) until electrical connector (16) and screw (18) can be accessed.


Do not lower axle drive module (1) too far.
Equipotential bonding line (19) can otherwise be damaged.

Release electrical connector (16) and disconnect from power electronics (1.1).

Unclip electrical wiring harness (17) at line brackets (arrows C).
