Do not remove exhaust gas recirculation cooler from bypass flap; do not disconnect coolant hoses. | |||
9 | Remove bracket (6) | To do this, remove bolts (7). | |
10 | Lay exhaust gas recirculation cooler with bypass flap upwards out of the working area | If necessary, fix in place with a cable tie. | |
11 | Remove fuel lines (8) and place to one side | To do this, remove screw/bolts (9) . | |
12 | Remove screws (10, 11) | Set of flexible head wrenches | |
13 | Disconnect electrical connection on crankshaft position sensor (L5/11) | ||
14 | Disconnect electrical connection (12) from bracket and remove | ||
15 | Remove screws/bolts (13) | ||
16 | Remove screw/bolts (14, 15) on timing case cover (16) | ||
17 | Press off timing case cover (16) using a suitable tool | | |
If cylinder head gasket is damaged, | |||

replace damaged cylinder head gasket. | |||
18 | Remove radial shaft sealing ring from timing case cover (16) | ||

19 | Clean contact surfaces on crankcase, oil pan and timing case cover (16) | ||
