The center position of the clock spring contact (R5) is crucial for trouble-free function of the airbag and the signaling system. When removed this is guaranteed by the mounting screws (1).
If the clock spring contact (R5) has nevertheless been twisted, e.g
if steering coupling is removed,
if securing screws turned out fully,
the center position is to be determined as follows:
1 Remove clock spring contact (R5).
2 Screw mounting bolts (1) fully into the clock spring contact (R5).
3 Turn the clock spring contact (R5) as far to the left until a slight resistance is detectable.
The clock spring contact (R5) is rolled up completely.
4 Turn (turn back) clock spring contact (R5) 3 to 3.5 revolutions clockwise until the mounting bolts (1) can be unscrewed again and fix the clock spring contact (R5) in position.
The complete rotation range of the clock spring contact (R5) is 6 to 7 revolutions.
