Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Raise vehicle.

 The vehicle must be situated on the lifting platform so that it is level in both the longitudinal and transverse axes.

Remove bottom engine compartment paneling.

Remove drain screw (3).

 Collect escaping transmission oil.

Remove rear engine crossmember.

Pump 6 l of transmission oil into transmission.

The Specifications for Operating Fluids must be complied with.
Otherwise, the transmission may be damaged.

 On transmissions that have been repaired, add the quantity of transmission oil drained + 0.5 l.

Start engine.

Determine transmission oil temperature using diagnostic system.



Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory

 When checking and correcting the transmission oil level, the transmission oil temperatures must always be maintained.

Bring transmission oil temperature in temperature range 40 to 45 °C or 104 to 113 ℉.

Switch off engine.

Determine transmission oil temperature using diagnostic system.



 Transmission oil temperature must lie between 40 to 45 °C or 104 bis 113 ℉.

Start engine and run in selector lever position"P".

Pump transmission oil into transmission using oil dispenser.

 After replacing the transmission and torque converter:
Approx. Refill 4 l of transmission oil.
If the torque converter has not been emptied:
Approx. Refill 2 l of transmission oil.

Shift through "P-R-N-D" drive ranges several times with the brake actuated and the engine idling.

Run engine in selector lever position"P" at idle speed.

Determine transmission oil temperature using diagnostic system.



 Transmission oil temperature must lie between 40 to 45 °C or 104 bis 113 ℉.

Remove adapter (2).

Allow a constant flow of oil to drain off when the oil filling capacity is too large at the start of the oil adjustment (arrow a) at the specified transmission oil temperature until the correct oil filling capacity is reached after draining off the excess quantity (arrow b).


The engine must run at idle speed and the transmission oil temperature must not be above the specified transmission oil temperature.
Otherwise, at higher transmission oil temperatures, too much transmission oil is drained off.

 If the oil flow is not constant, then the transmission oil level has to be corrected (from operation step 19 onwards) and then adjusted again.
