Risk of explosion due to escaping combustible gas or overheating of gas cylinders.Risk of injury caused by burns to skin and eyes. Risk of frostbite to body parts caused by escaping gas and by touching components near the valves when emptying gas cylinders. Risk of poisoning or suffocation caused by inhaling gas.

Remove any sources of ignition.
Protective clothing, safety gloves and safety glasses must always be worn.
Ensure that the work area is adequately ventilated.
When working on vehicles at ambient temperatures over 60 °C, all gas cylinders must be removed.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Remove/install

Drain and collect coolant.

Remove fuel filter (5).

Only if coolant line (3) is tightened down at the coolant pump (4) using 4 screw/bolts.

Remove coolant line (3) at coolant pump (4).

Remove coolant thermostat (1) and O-ring (2).

 Remove both coolant thermostats (1) on engines that have two coolant thermostats (1).

 Installation: Observe installation position of coolant thermostat (1). Breather (A) must point upwards.



Check

Check coolant thermostat (1).

Only if coolant thermostat (1) and/or coolant thermostats (1) were not replaced.

Install in the reverse order

Check coolant level.

 See information provided by vehicle manufacturer or engine supplier.

If specified value is not achieved,



Correct coolant level.

Check cooling system for leaks.

 Perform visual inspection.
