Removal, installation

Take off engine trim panel in interior

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding from hot coolant which splashes out. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open the cooling system unless the coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and allow the pressure to release. Do not pour coolant into containers for drinks.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothes, and eye protection.

Drain coolant

Remove oil filter element (1)

 Allow oil to flow out of oil filter housing

Disconnect electric cable at oil pressure switch (14)

Unscrew securing bolts (12, 13)



Remove heat exchanger (3) with oil filter housing

 Collect remaining oil which flows out

 Installing: replace seals (2)

Unscrew bolts (11) connecting heat exchanger and oil filter housing (2)



Take oil filter housing (2) off oil-water heat exchanger (6)

 Collect oil which flows out, replace seals (9, 10, 14) and insert into the connection fittings at oil-water heat exchanger (6)

Install in the reverse order

Inspect engine oil level, adjust to correct level if necessary

Inspect cooling system for leaks
