New anti-corrosive/anti-freeze for coolant
In the technical development, there was a change in the coolant in the factory. Anti-corrosive/anti-freeze product G48® (green/blue color) has been replaced by the anti-corrosive/anti-freeze G40® (pink color).
Anti-corrosive/anti-freeze product G40® has the following advantages over the G48® :
Reduction of sedimentation in the engine cooling system
Better heat dissipation
Lower environmental impact, since it does not contain any contaminating element composed of sodium borax.
The proportion of the mixture of the new additive with water remains the same.
The change to the anti-corrosive/antifreeze product G40® occurred at the factory for all truck models and on motorized buses BR457 (O500 RS, RSD, RSDD, UA, MA, UDA e MDA) with date of manufacture from November 6, 2017.
Only motorized buses BR900 (LO, MBCO, OF, OH and O500 M/R/U) will leave factory with the anti-corrosive/anti-freeze product of class MB 312.0 (yellow color).
The anti-corrosion product class MB 312.0 (yellow color) should not be used on trucks.
Old and new trucks and buses may use both G48® and G40®, but the different anti-corrosive/anti-freeze products can not be mixed in the vehicle under any circumstance.
These different products are incompatible and have different technologies (organic/inorganic) therefore, if mixed, will occur the precipitation of components, due to the different solubility constants and the chemical reaction between them, so that their properties are not able to effectively protect the cooling system against corrosion.
Before refueling, it must be verified which anti-corrosive/anti-freeze product the vehicle is equipped with. The corresponding anti-corrosive/anti-freeze product will be confirmed by color.
Pink color: anti-corrosive/anti-freeze agent G40®
Green/blue color: anti-corrosive/anti-freeze agent G48®
For the supply with a new coolant, the refrigeration system should be washed. To do this, supply the engine with clean water and let it run in alternating rotations for approx. 5/min. In vehicles with Code B3H select the Retarder maximum brake stage several times. If the wash water is still colored after washing, a further washing process must be performed.
Vehicles with Code B3H during the washing process should not be moved.
Otherwise the Retarder will be damaged.
