Make a route

 Retarder oil temperature must be over 60 °C.

Stop the vehicle

 Drain the oil while vehicle is parked on flat surface.

Clean the area around drain plugs of the retarder (1), the heat exchanger (2) and the check valve plug (3)

Remove the plugs (1), (2) and (3) and drain the oil

 Completely drain the oil into a proper container.

Install the plugs (1), (2) and (3)

 Replace sealing rings.

Clean the areas around the plug (4) or (5), according to the model and supplying feature

Fill the retarder with the correct amount of oil and install the filler plug (4)

Fill the retarder with the correct amount of oil and install the filler plug (4) or through level plug (5)

Operate the vehicle at a speed of 50 km/h

 This procedure aims to eliminate the presence of air bubbles in the retarder internal circuit, generated during the oil filling. If this procedure is not performed, besides air leakage through the relief valve, the retarder will not function properly.

Activate the retarder, only in the first stage, for a period of 5 seconds and deactivate it immediately after

Repeat this procedure for more 4 or 5 times
