Service Information: Head unit replacement

The head unit from the Pioneer company replaces with immediate effect as the "Communication and Navigation System (CNS)" for vehicles as of code 801, both the smart High­Line radio from Bosch as well as the Media Navigation Center (MNC) from Alpine. The same applies for all replacement parts with a part number suffix 80. Please note that the part numbers, work units and replacement part prices change.

Scope of supply

The Communication and Navigation System (CNS) with part number A 451 906 03 01 scope of supply also contains the following:

 Radio

 Adapter cable

 GPS antenna

 Microphone

 USB connecting cable (2x)

 Identification labels for connecting cable

 Cable tie

 Metal sheet

 Cable terminal (3x)

 Double-sided adhesive tape

 Operating instructions

Installation

Please follow the installation instructions in the WIS AZ82.85­P­0008MCC.

 A smart logo is not shown when the device starts up.
Following installation as per AZ82.85­P­0008MCC, the radio has to be reset (described in the enclosed Pioneer operator's manual).
In addition to AZ82.85­P­0008MCC, the green line must be connected as a hand brake signal.

Connection to CAN bus

A CAN connection using a CAN adapter with part number A 451 821 01 00 is not always required for operation of the Pioneer radio. The CAN adapter only acts as a redundant signal, if the GPS signal, for example, is lost when passing through a tunnel. The CAN adapter is used to access the signal from the rpm sensors. Without a CAN connection, a message may be shown on the display during initial commissioning.  The CAN adapter does not provide any further functions.

Update of card data and navigation system software

Both updates to the map data as well as navigation software are dealt with on the following Internet site:

Following registration the customer can purchase and download the latest update.

 After initial commissioning of the device, the customer has a period of 45 days to install a map data update once and free of charge. The 45 day period deadline starts as soon as the vehicle is driven without an interruption for more than 20 km.

Additional information

Residual inventories mean that instead of a Communication and Navigation Systems (CNS), a matching Bosch device may be supplied instead.

If a Bosch device is supplied, the conversion measure described here is not required.

Documentation in ODUS

When re-equipping with the Communication and Navigation System (CNS), the code 527 is to be entered into VeDoc. A code does not need to be entered in VeDoc for a replacement.

Damage code

The damage code is not changed. The previous damage codes can still be used.
