ENGINES 457, 906 in MODEL 671

We have been finding that most of the starters that have been sent in on warranty claims actually have no faults.

The cause of the problem is going to be determined as part of a special investigation.

For this reason when replacing a starter in a warranty case, please always read out the fault memory with STAR DIAGNOSIS and check the fault memory of the flexibly programmed control (FPS) control unit for current faults. Then enter the faults that have been read out of the control units onto the starter test sheet.

If no faults are found in the MR control unit and no current faults are found in the FPS control unit, please briefly describe the reason for removing the starter under "Damage description/reason for removal" in the starter test sheet.

Send in the fully completed questionnaire together with the starter.

Please complete the test sheet so that we receive the additional information that is needed to remedy the problem specifically and quickly.

This campaign will continue until 31.12.2004.
