MODEL 638.294

The electronic brake force distribution function is integrated in the ABS control module (A2) and operates without additional sensor systems. It replaces the "automatic load-dependent brake pressure control" (ALB).

The ABS control module (A2) constantly monitors the rotational speeds of all 4 wheels. When braking occurs, all the wheels slow at the same rate initially. As the braking force increases, however, the rear axle brakes tend to overbrake.

This causes increased slip at the rear wheels. If the slip thresholds defined in the ABS control module (A2) are exceeded, the brake pressure in the rear wheel brakes is regulated by the pressure holding function in the hydraulic unit.

This occurs by actuating the corresponding solenoid valves in the hydraulic unit. The high-pressure/return pump (A2m1) is not actuated.
