Location of ABS control module

The ABS control module (A2) is mounted in the engine compartment on the left side wall (see diagram).

ABS control module, task

The ABS control module (A2) is intended to guarantee the stability and steerability of the vehicles in all road conditions (occurrence of slip processes), both when braking as well as when moving off from stationary or accelerating.

ABS control module, design

The ABS control module (A2) consists of two parts: the control electronics (left side) and the hydraulic unit (right side). They are connected electrically via a cordless plug connector.

ABS control module, function

The ABS control module (A2) receives the signals from the wheel speed sensors (B79, B80, B81 and B82) and analyzes them for potential slip processes.

This is regulated via the control valves in the hydraulic unit and via intervention in the engine (acceleration slip regulation for engines M111 and M611).
