MODEL 414.700

Start time and remaining time

Start time is understood to refer to the service interval in days immediately following an oil change.

The start time is not dependent on driving conditions nor any oilrefills.

The start time amounts to 730 days ( 365 days).

The start time is automatically reset to its initial value after each oil change by the oil change reset. The start time is an internal operand and cannot be displayed in the instrument cluster. It is possible to display the start time with Star Diagnosis.

The remaining time is displayed in the instrument cluster under certain conditions.

The remaining time is the time, which is left until the next service is due.

The remaining time is only of significance for "infrequent drivers" (thus as a rule the remaining distance is displayed).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The remaining time is dependent on:

start time

the driving conditions (to this end an assessment of the driven distance is conducted.)

Refilling oil however does not exert an influence on the remaining time.

These dependencies mean that ASSYST is also tailored to suit the requirements of those who drive infrequently. Depending upon the assessment, the service interval for infrequent drivers lies between one and two years.

Warning threshold (in days)

Star Diagnosis can be used to set a warning threshold for the remaining time of between five and thirty days with an increment of one day. The default setting is 30 days.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Remaining time display

In principle, remaining time is not displayed until the condition:

remaining time (in days) x 40 < remaining distance (in km)

has been fulfilled and the warning threshold reached.

The remaining time display is then performed:

automatically, after five seconds of the starter switch in position 2 or driving mode, if the warning threshold has been reached.
For ten seconds the current remaining time, the service and the clock symbol are displayed:

automatically, after five seconds of starter switch in position 2 or driving mode, if the remaining time has been exceeded:
the service and clock symbols are displayed. The remaining time is displayed with a negative sign (minus sign) in front of it. The display flashes

in response to driver instructions. The display is then performed as above for ten seconds

If a v-limit is set on the cruise control, the v-limit display is shown briefly in front of the ASSYST display.

If measured values are not available for ASSYST, e.g. because of a sensor fault, it switches to previously filed substitute values. A corresponding entry is made in the DTC memory of each respective engine control unit.

Data is retained even if the operating voltage should fail. However, periods without any operating voltage (disconnected battery) are not recorded!
