Removing

Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid

Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.

Before opening the hydraulic system, thoroughly clean the area surrounding the separation point. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system

Open engine hood

Remove left air intake duct (1) upstream of air filter

Remove front engine cover

Remove engine trim panel

Suction off steering gear oil from the power steering expansion reservoir (3)



Disconnect high-pressure expansion hose (4) from power steering pump

Fit high-pressure expansion hose (4) using  banjo bolt (06d) to  adapter (06e)



 Fit connection hose (07a) using  banjo bolt (06c) to  adapter (06e)



 Mount adapter (06a) to  connection hose (07a)

Fill power steering pump and bleed

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury from bruises and burns if you hold your hand into engine when it is started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it moving off.

Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes.

Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine

Increase engine speed to approx. 1000 rpm



Checking

 Close throttle valve (05b) on  testing unit (05) and check the maximum operating pressure

 Perform the test quickly to prevent the steering gear oil temperature from rising too high.

Turn off engine

Suction steering gear oil out of the expansion reservoir (3)



 Remove testing unit (05),  adapters (05a, 06a, 06b),  throttle valve (05b),  connection hoses (07a, 07b) and  adapter (06e)



Install

Attach high-pressure expansion hose (4) to power steering pump using banjo bolt.



 Install new sealing rings.

Fill power steering pump and bleed

Install left intake air duct (1) upstream of air filter

Checking

Run engine and check power steering for leaks

 In the event of leakage, find and eliminate cause.
