12 | Clean all parts | ||
| Check | ||
13 | Check all parts for wear and damage | If there are problems:
| |||
Replace worn or damaged parts.
| |||
| Assemble | ||
14 | Pound both outer races (12, 13) of new tapered roller bearing (9, 11) using copper drift into pinion flange (5)
15 | Press new tapered roller bearing (11) onto drive pinion (3)
Assembly sleeve | |||
16 | Fit new roll pin (8) on drive pinion (3) | Since the old tension sleeve (7) has already been deformed when it was first assembled, a new tension sleeve (8) must be used.
17 | Install drive pinion (3) in pinion flange (5)
18 | Press new tapered roller bearing (9) onto drive pinion (3)
Assembly sleeve | |||
19 | Coat front face of tapered roller bearing (9) (hatched area) with long-life grease | The long-life grease may not touch the roller surface area.
Long-life grease | |||
20 | Coat new radial shaft sealing ring (10) with long-life grease | Long-life grease
21 | Install new radial shaft sealing ring (10) into pinion flange (5) | The spiral-type expander side of the radial shaft sealing ring (10) must face towards the tapered roller bearing (9).
