Warning | |||
1 | Heavy vehicles may have small differences in relation to the picture presented, however, the removal and installation procedures of the rocker bushings are the same. Observe with attention the reference values specified for each class of vehicles, semi-heavy or heavy.
| Remove | ||
2 | Remove the complete central bracket (1) with the rocker arm | Heavy vehicles.
Check: Remove and install the stops and the brackets of the rear springs
3 | Unscrew the conical pin flange nut (5) and remove the threaded conical locking pin (4) | Use a hammer and a punch to remove the threaded conical pin (4).
4 | Remove the grease fitting (7) from the end of the rocker arm articulation center pin (3)
5 | Remove the rocker arm articulation pin (3) from the central bracket (1) | Should it be necessary, utilize a brass pin.
6 | Remove the central rocker arm (2) from the central bracket (1) | Semi-heavy vehiclesMaximum clearance C required between the suspending U-bolt and the 3rd auxiliary axle beam
Heavy vehiclesMaximum admissible wear between the articulation pin and the central rocker arms bushing
If, due to wear of the parts, the clearance between the pin and the bushings exceeds the maximum allowable clearance
| |||
Replace the bushings and the central pivot pin
7 | Place the rocker on an appropriate support on the base of the workshop press and remove the two bushings (6) with a mandrel or a cylindrical pin
| Clean | ||
8 | Clean all the components
| Check | ||
9 | Check the condition of the bushings housing | Semi-heavy vehiclesMinimum thickness of the friction and side plates in the central rocker
Heavy vehiclesMinimum thickness of the friction and lateral plates in the central rocker arms
10 | Check the conditions and the wear of the friction plates on the rocker and on the laterals | Semi-heavy vehiclesMinimum thickness of the friction and side plates in the central rocker
Heavy vehiclesMinimum thickness of the friction and lateral plates in the central rocker arms
If the friction plates reach the minimum allowable thickness
| |||
Replace the rocker arm.
11 | Check the condition of the body of the central bracket (1) | Should it be necessary, replace the complete central bracket.
| Install | ||
12 | Lightly lubricate the housing in the rocker and install the new bushings (6) with the help of the workshop press and an appropriate mandrel | At assembly, pay attention so the bushings are flush with the housing in the rocker, on both sides.
Grease, 6820.20 | |||
13 | Insert the rocker arm in the central bracket carefully (1), align the holes and assemble the central articulation pin (3) | If necessary, use a copper or brass hammer.
14 | Insert a new threaded conical locking pin (4), install new a flange nut (5) and tighten it to the specified torque. | Semi-heavy vehiclesLock-pin nut of the rocker's center shaft
Heavy vehiclesLock-pin nut of the rocker's center shaft
15 | Install a new grease fitting (7) in the lubrication hole of the articulation pin | Grease, 6820.20
16 | Lubricate with grease the rocker's friction plates | Grease, 6820.20
17 | Assemble the central bracket (1) on the side rail
18 | Assemble the spring limiting tubes (rollers) on the ends of the rockers and tighten the flanged nuts (5) to the specified tightening torque | Observe that the flange bolts are installed with the head turned to the chassis frame and the flange nuts, externally.
.Nuts with flange of the spring limiting tubes fastening bolts on the supports and on the center rocker arm
19 | After finishing the assembly, check the alignment of the rear axles.
20 | Lubricate all other lubrication points of the suspension. | Grease, 6820.20 |
