Remove transmission

Fasten transmission to the assembly stand and turn to horizontal position

Shift transmission at gearshift linkage to neutral

Remove linkage (4)

Remove shift shaft (2) along with cover (1)

 Tilt the shift shaft (2) slightly when pulling it out so that the shift shaft (2) in the transmission will be pressed upwards.

Clean sealing surfaces on transmission housing and on cover (1)

 The sealing surfaces must be grease-free.

Install

Check position of shift rods (5)

 The grooves in the shift rods (5) must be in alignment (arrow); if necessary, shift transmission at gearshift linkage into neutral position.

Coat sealant evenly on sealing surface of the cover (1)

Loctite 5203 sealant

Install shift shaft (2) along with cover (1)

 Tilt the shift shaft (2) slightly when inserting it so that the shift shaft (2) in the transmission will be pressed upwards.

 Bolt, shift shaft cover to transmission housing

Install linkage (4)

 Installation:
Use suitable pliers.
Otherwise the linkage (4) gets damaged.

Check shift mechanism for ease of movement

 If necessary, remove and install shift shaft once more.

Detach transmission from assembly stand
