| Remove/install | ||
1 | Remove electric coolant pump.
Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.
2 | Remove charge-air distributor.
3 | Release and disconnect electrical connector of refrigerant compressor.
4 | Remove refrigerant compressor and place to one side with connected refrigerant lines. |
| |
5 | Remove ball pin (2). | Ball stud for engine cover to crankcase/oil filter housing
6 | Expose engine oil pressure and temperature sensor (B149/1).
Do not remove engine oil pressure and temperature sensor (B149/1).
7 | Release and disconnect electrical connectors (3).
8 | Remove electrical wiring harness from the oil filter housing with the heat exchanger (1).
9 | Remove screws (4) in reverse numerical sequence from the bolt plan. | Bolt plan
Bolt, oil filter housing (major assembly carrier) to crankcase
10 | Remove oil filter housing with the heat exchanger (1) and collect escaping engine oil using a rag.
Installation: Replace seals.
11 | Remove oil spray nozzle shutoff valve (Y131). | When replacing oil filter housing with heat exchanger (1).
12 | Remove engine oil pressure and temperature sensor (B149/1). | When replacing oil filter housing with heat exchanger (1).
13 | Clean sealing surfaces on the oil filter housing with the heat exchanger (1) and crankcase with a lint-free cloth.
14 | Install in the reverse order.
| Check | ||
15 | Check engine oil level and correct if necessary.
| Engine 654.8 in model 213, 238, 257 | ||
Warning | Risk of burn injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. | Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
16 | Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness. |
