Warning | Risk of injury. Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. | Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.
Warning | Risk of burn injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. | Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.
Caution | Risk of poisoning from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with brake fluid | Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

| Remove/install | ||
1 | Remove air filter housing.
2 | Remove engine cover. | ||
3 | Disconnect electrical connector of fill level sensor on brake fluid reservoir (1).
4 | Remove the brake fluid reservoir (1) and take out of the working area..
Do not extract brake fluid; brake fluid reservoir (1) is not completely removed.
Installation: Check expansion rivet for damage.
If damage exists: | |||
| |||
Replace expansion rivet.
5 | Remove vacuum reservoir.
6 | Remove vacuum line (3) with check valve (4) from brake booster (2). | Installation: Check seal for vacuum line (3) in brake booster (2) for damage and leak tightness.
If seal is damaged or no longer seals correctly:
| |||
Replace seal. | |||
7 | Detach vacuum line (3) from holder (5).
8 | Remove holder (5). | To do this, remove screw (6).
9 | Remove exhaust gas recirculation line (7). | To do so, remove screws (8).
Installation: Replace seals.
Bolt, exhaust gas recirculation line to bypass flap
Bolt, exhaust gas recirculation line to charge air line
10 | Expose electrical wiring harness from the temperature sensor downstream of the exhaust gas recirculation cooler. | Model 447 with engine 651
To do so, disconnect electrical connector.
11 | Disconnect electrical connector (9).
12 | Remove vacuum hoses (10). | Removal: Mark assignment of vacuum hoses (10).
Installation: Check vacuum hoses (10) for damage. Observe assignment of vacuum hoses (10) relative to the connections on boost pressure control flap pressure transducer (Y93/1).
If damage is present: | |||
| |||
Replace vacuum hoses (10).
13 | Loosen screw (11). | ||
14 | Remove screw (12). | ||
15 | Remove boost pressure control flap pressure transducer (Y93/1).
16 | Install in the reverse order.
| Check | ||
Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
17 | Check for leaktightness when engine is running. | Visual inspection only. |
