Danger | Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contactwith fuel. | No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
1 | Remove the pressure tube (5) |
| |
Cover connections in the nozzle unit and nozzle holder.
2 | Unscrew the fuel filter cap (7) | When unscrewing the filter cap, the fuel will flow to the tank, through the return pipe.
3 | Drain the fuel from gallery on the engine block through the inlet and outlet connections |
| |
Procedure necessary to avoid fuel contamination of the lubricating oil in the crankcase.
4 | Clean with special attention to nozzle unit to be removed and the entire surrounding area | In case of removing more than one nozzle unit, identify them according to the corresponding cylinder.
5 | Disconnect electrical cables (6) from nozzle unit (1) | Unscrew the protective cover (6.1) by pulling on the flap. Loosen the bolts (6.2) and disconnect the electric lines (6).
6 | Mount the turning device to rotate the motor into the flywheel housing |
| |
Do not run the engine before removing the device.
Cranking device | |||
7 | Detach the nozzle unit (1) from its housing | Incorrect practice when ejecting the nozzle unit will cause damage to it. The nozzle unit is under the force of the spring and by completely removing the bolts (4), it can be ejected from its housing. If the nozzle unit (1) is gripped (locked), pry properly using an appropriate lever on the side (arrow). Do not extract the unit by the magnetic valve, as it may cause damage.
Loosen the screws approximately 6 mm (4). Slowly rotate the crankshaft so that the camshaft cam pushes the nozzle unit (1) up.
8 | Completely loosen the screws (4) and carefully remove the nozzle unit (1)
9 | Carefully remove O-rings (2 and 3) from the nozzle unit (1) | Do not damage the O-rings channels in the nozzle unit.
| Check | ||
10 | Check nozzle unit (1) for damages | Scratches or shallow grooves on the drive roller are admissible. However, if there are deep scratches, stretch marks or deep abrasion points, the nozzle unit should be replaced.
11 | Check the Drive Cam of the nozzle unit camshaft
Rotate the camshaft and inspect through the nozzle unit housing.
If necessary, check the elevation of the cam.
| Install | ||
12 | Clean the body of the nozzle unit and the housing on the engine block | Observe the O-rings channels in the body of the nozzle unit.
Use a clean lint-free cloth.
Do not use burlap. | |||
13 | Replace the O-Rings in the nozzle unit (1) and lightly apply heat-resistant grease to bearings |
| |
Only when reinstalling nozzle units which have already been serviced.
Lightly grease with heat resistant ball bearing grease the body of the nozzle unit and the bore in the cylinder block
High-temperature grease

14 | Rotate the crankshaft until the camshaft cam, corresponding to the unit to be installed, is positioned on the basic circle
15 | Lightly oil the O-rings, the nozzle unit body (1) and the inside of its housing in the engine block | Use engine oil.
16 | Enter the nozzle unit (1) in its housing, pushing it manually, overcoming the spring pressure | Up to approx. 4 mm before touching the block.
Do not tilt the nozzle unit (1) when inserting it to the engine block.
17 | Install the screws (4) | Thread the screws alternately and slowly until the unit touches the block.
Injector pressure pipe, inside the cylinder head
18 | Connect electrical cables (6) to nozzle unit (1) | Connect the electrical cables (6) and tighten the screws (6.2) moderately. Fit the protective cover (6.1) and the seals (6.3) correctly.
19 | Remove the engine turning device |
| |
Cranking device | |||
20 | Screw and tighten the fuel filter cap (7) | Check and, if necessary, replace the O-Ring (8) of the fuel filter cap (7).
