1 | Warm up engine to operating temperature of approximately 80 °C | Only perform compression test when engine is at its normal operating temperature. | |
2 | Remove glow plugs (R9/1,R9/2,R9/3,R9/4) | ||
3 | Crank engine with starter. | Do not crank engine at transmitter key but use contact switch of compression recorder (1). Crank engine several times with the starter in order to eliminate combustion residues in the cylinder. | |
4 | Insert screw-in fitting (3) with check valve installed in glow plug bore of cylinder to be tested. | | |

5 | Connect compression recorder (1) with connection line (2) to the screw-in fitting (3) | | |

6 | Test compression pressure by cranking engine with starter for at least 8 revolutions | Do not crank engine at transmitter key but use contact switch of compression recorder (1). | |

7 | Carry out test procedure at the remaining cylinders in the same way | ||
8 | Compare pressure readings obtained with the specified pressures. | Compression installation tolerance or new value | |

If the pressure lies below the minimum compression pressure or if the permissible difference between the individual cylinders is exceeded, check for cylinder leakage. Refer to: | |||
