Keep all ignition sources out of hazard area.
Do not carry out any work on system when it is pressurized.

No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.

Remove/install

Remove engine cover



 Installation: Only install engine cover after the leak test.

Disconnect electrical connection (1)

Detach fuel hoses (2) from fuel filter (3)

 Installation:
Replace clamps.
Prevents leakage.

 Pay attention to the installation position of the fuel hoses (2).
Allow escaping fuel to drain into a suitable container.
Seal connections.

Remove fuel filter (3) with drain hose (5)

 Installation: Check that the fuel filter (3) is correctly seated.

Detach end piece (6) from drain hose (5)

 Installation: Attach the end piece (6) to the drain hose (5) of the new fuel filter (3).

Install in the reverse order



Switch on ignition


Switch on the ignition for at least 15 s before starting the engine to ensure that at engine start there is sufficient fuel at the high-pressure pump.
This avoids damage to the high-pressure pump.

 Danger !

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine and check leaktightness

 Perform a visual inspection only and then switch off the engine.

Confirm replacement of the fuel filter (3) in the maintenance booklet or in the DSB
