Danger! | Risk of explosion due to fuel vapors, risk of poisoning from inhaling combustion gases, and risk of injury from burns | Do not put stationary heater/auxiliary heater or engine with heater booster into operation in confined spaces or while refuelling. Allow heater unit to cool down after operation and wear safety gloves.
| Voltage must be applied to the heater unit during run-on: Risk of overheating! | ||
Stationary heater (STH) diagnosis, advanced information
a | Fuses in order | ||
b | Engine coolant temperature 20 °C.
c | Air inlet of heating and ventilation system must be clear, remove any foreign bodies, such as leaves, if necessary.
d | The coolant circuit must be bled carefully.
e | The coolant circuit must be adequately filled with coolant.
f | Coolant lines must not be pinched or kinked.
g | The vehicle heater must be set to "Max".
h | The vehicle heater blower switch must be set to "1"
i | Vehicle battery must be sufficiently charged (acid density 1.24 kg/dm3).
j | No malfunction lock-out on stationary heater
Function check | |||
Test step | Operation/Requirement | Specified value | Remedy |
1 Switching on stationary heater | Press "instant heat" button () on stationary heater timer (N34). The green indicator lamp on the stationary heater timer (N34) comes on | Switch on stationary heater Function check of stationary heater (STH)
2 Heating mode | The water temperature rises to approx. 79°C in full-load operation The water temperature drops below 72°C in part-load operation | Heater unit is switched to part-load operation Heater unit is switched to full-load operation
3 Switching off stationary heater | Press "instant heat" button () on the stationary heater timer (N34) The green indicator lamp on the timer (N34) goes out | Switch off stationary heater Function check of stationary heater (STH)
4 Switching on stationary heater with remote control Do not pull out antenna on the hand-hand transmitter in the near field (< 3 m) | Press left-hand side of button on remote control | The switch-on indicator lamp on the remote control (red LED) flashes If the red LED does not flash after the left-hand side of the button on the remote control is pressed, the batteries may be too cold or too weak. Stationary heater is switched on (refer to test step 1) | The remote control must have been correctly allocated to the vehicle: |
5 Switching off stationary heater with remote control Do not pull out antenna on the hand-hand transmitter in the near field (< 3 m) | Press the right-hand side of the button on the remote control | The switch-on indicator lamp on the remote control (red LED) flashes another 3 times If the red LED does not flash after the left-hand side of the button on the remote control is pressed, the batteries may be too cold or too weak. Stationary heater is switched off (refer to test step 3) | The remote control must have been correctly allocated to the vehicle: |
