Danger

Risk of explosion due to escaping combustible gas or overheating of gas cylinders.Risk of injury caused by burns to skin and eyes. Risk of frostbite to body parts caused by escaping gas and by touching components near the valves when emptying gas cylinders. Risk of poisoning or suffocation caused by inhaling gas.

Remove any sources of ignition.
Protective clothing, safety gloves and safety glasses must always be worn.
Ensure that the work area is adequately ventilated.
When working on vehicles at ambient temperatures over 60 °C, all gas cylinders must be removed.

Check fasteners

Check the union nut (3), the clamping ring (1, 2) as well as the counterpart for damage. The space (A) between the clamping rings (1, 2) must be at least 1 mm. If the space (A) is smaller or if damage is established on the fasteners then the respective component or the gas pressure line in question must be replaced.

Tighten union nut (3) such that it is finger-tight and mark position in relation to fitting

Turn union nut (3) until an increased resistance can be felt.

3.1

Continue to turn the union nut (3) through a tightening angle of 180°

In case of initial installation.

3.2

Continue to turn the union nut (3) through a tightening angle of 90°

In case of re-installation.

4

Check gas system for leaktightness in accordance with the national regulations

In Germany the gas system inspection (GAP) should be performed according to §41a of the German vehicle licensing regulations.
