Detach rear complete wheel

Unscrew collar nut of rear axle shaft (37)

 Installation: Replace collar nut and secure after tightening.

Remove wheel carrier

Lever rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle differential (50) and remove


Do not place assembly lever on protective ring (37a), but support on rear axle differential (50) with socket wrench.
Otherwise the protective ring (37a) could get damaged and this could lead to leakage.

Replace locking ring (37o) on inner spline profile



Check

Check constant velocity joints on rear axle shaft (37)

Check boots (37m) on rear axle shaft (37)

If the boot (37m) is damaged or leaky:



Replace boot (37m).

Check side radial shaft sealing ring in rear axle differential (50)

If damaged or leaking:



Replace side radial shaft sealing ring.

Install in the reverse order



Check oil level in rear axle differential (50) and correct if necessary
