6 | Remove radial shaft sealing rings (3, 4) and needle bearing (2) from axle housing (1) | ||

7 | Check needle bearing inner races (5); detach from input shaft (7) if necessary | Not if a new input shaft (7) is to be installed. Roughen needle bearing inner races (5) and break open using a blunt chisel. | |
8 | Remove thrust rings (6) from input shaft (7) | ||

9 | Heat up thrust ring (6) and associated needle bearing inner race (5) to approx. 100 °C and attach to input shaft (7) on steering knuckle side | The input shaft (7) must be free of oil and grease. | |

10 | Heat up thrust ring (6) and associated needle bearing inner race (5) to approx. 100 °C and attach to input shaft (7) on axle housing side | The input shaft (7) must be free of oil and grease. | |
11 | Install needle bearing (11) and radial shaft sealing rings (9, 10) in steering knuckle (12) | ||

13 | Insert input shaft (7) into axle housing (1) | Insert the input shaft (7) horizontally into the axle housing, otherwise the radial sealing rings (3, 4) could be damaged and leaks could then occur at the front axle. | |
14 | Insert cellulose seal ring (8) into steering knuckle (12) | Coat the contact surface of the cellulose seal ring (8) with long-life grease and install the cellulose seal ring (8) with the chamfered side pointing inward. | |
15 | Unlock the differential lock mechanically | ||
16 | Install complete steering knuckle (12) |
